Children's Chapel at Easter!
St. Matthew's is a growing and thriving church family with many children. In building a strong and healthy community, we realize the great importance to teach and foster the faith of our very youngest members. We have a wonderful team of Sunday school teachers, all volunteers from our parish, who work on a weekly basis to grow, develop and nurture the faith of our children. All volunteers working with our little ones have completed Safe Church training and a background check.
Children’s Ministry: held on Sundays during the 10:30 service
Our children start by joining the procession at the start of service, and are then led to their classrooms with their teachers. The kids return in time to share communion with their families.
Note: we always welcome your little ones to stay with you for the service if you’d prefer. Their little noises are a joy to us!
Nursery
Our tiniest members are welcomed to a nursery setting where they are loved and cared for during the service, allowing their parents and caregivers to focus on the worship and sermon.
Preschool & kindergarten
Using the Godly Play approach, based on Montessori principles, our preschoolers and kindies explore their faith through story, "to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play."
First through Fifth Grades
Children in first through fifth grades discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ in today's world through our Children’s Chapel using exciting stories, arts and crafts and active games that combine into a wonderful faith experience.
Youth Formation
Our Youth in grades 6-12 are welcomed to a special Youth Formation time during the 10:30 service.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School rounds out our year by continuing the Sunday School experience in a summer camp format, typically held in June. Along with music, story reading, crafts and games, we transform the parish hall and classrooms creating a backdrop for an exciting adventure for the children of St. Matthew's and our community to explore their faith.
